Appearance
Preview Settings - Notes (Desktop)
What it is: The note-layout options within the Preview Settings pane, controlling continued headers, note numbering, header sources, page breaks, and whether note sheets flow continuously or break between sections.
What it's for
Notes to the financial statements often span multiple pages and sub-sections. This settings panel gives the user precise control over how notes are presented when printed — from whether "continued" labels appear at the top of overflow pages, to how note numbers are formatted, to whether all note pages flow together or break at section boundaries.
How to do it
Open note settings
- Open a Financials preview (Format tab > Financials).
- In the Preview Settings pane, navigate to Notes.
Continued headers
- Use the Continued Header drop-down to select a header style that appears at the top of pages where a note continues from the previous page.
- Format the continued header using the formatting options that appear once a style is selected.
Note numbers
- Under Note Numbers, change the position and alignment of note numbers using the available options.
- Use Prepend to add a prefix before each note number.
- Tick Omit Lone Sub-Note Numbers to hide the sub-note number when a note contains only one sub-section.
Header source and spacing
- Under Header, choose the header source:
- Source: Notes Worksheet — uses the header from the main Notes page for all note sections.
- Source: Worksheet of 1st row — uses the header from each individual notes page (Notes2, Notes3, etc.).
- Choose the spacing behaviour:
- Match first Note spacing — keeps year headers aligned with the columns of the first note.
- Expand to last text — extends headers as far right as the last text column.
Page breaks
- Use the page break drop-down to set where page breaks occur within notes and accounting policies.
- Tick Combine Notes Sheets to flow all note pages continuously without breaks between sections. When unticked, page breaks occur between Notes, Notes2, Notes3, etc. as defined in the template.
